DIRECTOR: STEPHEN WITTE

Stephen was born a passionate engineer - constructing and repairing his father’s joinery machinery and motor vehicles from a pre-adolescent age, leading on to constructing his own designed motorbike at 11 years of age. This led in later teens to restoring motorcycles and veteran cars, and designing, building and successfully racing motor vehicles. This first hand on the job knowledge gave him an understanding for all types of things mechanical and electrical with which he accelerated his innate understanding of engineering principles.

As a young adult Stephen’s goal was to build his own plane, using a Volkswagen engine. Although this did not eventuate, with persistence and determination he later owned his own aircraft, from a Cessna 210 to unique warbird aircraft. He has been involved in aviation for many decades. He is always looking to upskill, attending courses such as the Redstar FAST flying clinic in the USA, various New Zealand CAA courses, along with further aircraft type ratings. A favourite passion is to attend and participate in Warbird Airshows, and meet equally passionate aircraft owners and operators.
